Rough Edge : Equinox The Cry Of Gaia review

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

If the « Lord of the Rings » films had a heavy metal soundtrack, « The Cry of Gaia, » by Equinox, might be it.

This progressive metal band loads their music with sound from wall-to-wall. You’ll hear cinematic orchestra music, you’ll hear power metal, you’ll hear hardcore, you’ll hear a little bit of everything. And it’s all BIG, and powerful, and wall-shaking. It creates an atmosphere and takes you there, and you’ll be glad to go along for the ride.

This is one of those CDs I’d definitely recommend listening to with headphones. Put aside some time to sit down, slip on those ‘phones and enjoy this one from beginning to end. I think that’s the best way to experience « The Cry of Gaia » and you’ll be glad you did.

Equinox: Inohpis – guitars; Pascal Mulot – bass; Aurelien Ouzoulius – drums; Emmanuel Creis – vocals.
